Be the hands and feet of Christ in the Local Community

          The City of Refuge (COR) Team champions the many organizations working diligently and prayerfully in the Houston community to meet local needs and spread the gospel to a broken world.

Our Team Focuses On 

  • Partnering with organizations within Houston’s Third Ward/South Union area
  • Supporting individuals with personal connections to COR who undertake local Christian ministries, particularly with a focus on international students and students at local universities
  • COR-led missions work

If you are interested in serving alongside Community Partners, you can

  • Volunteer to serve on the Community Partners Team for at least a one-year commitment
  • Send ideas to the team about how the church can serve and partner with others in our local community (Third Ward/South Union)

Current Partnerships

Agape works with youth and adults in the Houston's South Union seeking to transform the neighborhood by preparing Christ-following, independent, community-minded leaders, creating opportunity for individuals regardless of circumstances.


Bridges International, a caring community of Christ-followers, serves, promotes social connections, and engages in spiritual conversations with international students in Houston’s universities, Houston Community College, and nearby as those students become leaders and return to their home countries


InterVarsity Christian Fellowship serves students and faculty at more than 700 university campuses nationwide, including the University of Houston, Rice, Texas Southern and Houston Baptist. More information: Jeremy Lee Pete Aldrich


Square Inch Houston is a non-profit organization rooted in Houston's historic Third Ward neighborhood that seeks social and spiritual renewal for the community through the development of leaders within the Third Ward. The Scholarship for Academics, Leadership and Transformation (SALT) program is a year long discipleship, leadership formation, and community engagement program that offers students at Texas Southern University an opportunity to be mentored and invested in by local community leaders in the Greater Third Ward.


Young Life brings the good news of Jesus Christ into the lives of adolescents with an approach that is respectful of who kids are and hopeful about who they can be. Young Life starts with adults concerned enough about kids to go to them, on their turf and in their culture, building bridges of authentic friendship.
